Why this fits your profile
Bottled teriyaki is one of the sweetest sauces on a grocery shelf — often more sugar per tablespoon than syrup. This version keeps the umami depth without that spike, which matters most on a stir-fry night when you're already trying to keep blood sugar steady through dinner.
Ingredients
- ⅓ cup coconut aminos or low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp allulose or monk fruit sweetener
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- ½ tsp toasted sesame oil
- Optional: 1 tsp arrowroot starch whisked with 2 tbsp water, to thicken
Directions
Step 1
Whisk all ingredients (except starch slurry) together in a small saucepan.
Step 2
Simmer over low heat 5 minutes.
Step 3
If a thicker sauce is wanted, stir in the arrowroot slurry and simmer 1–2 minutes more until glossy.
Smart swaps
- Add red pepper flakes for a spicier version
- Use in place of the coconut aminos already called for in the Beef & Broccoli Cauliflower Bowl for a sweeter profile
